Blake's Page

Hello all and welcome to my little corner of cyberspace! First, let me tell you a little about myself.
My name is Blake Burton, I am 20 years old and originally from Deer Park, Texas which is right outside of Houston!

As of May 2001, however, I have been a resident of Humble, Texas - just northeast of Houston - and am attending theUniversity of Houston as a Computer Science major! In my spare time, I enjoy clogging, basketball, and spending time with my family and friends!

Speaking of my friends, many of them have web pages as well, so feel free to check some of these out!  Let's see, there's Erin, Nicole, Adam, Annie, Rachel, and Kendra! Keep in mind, these are the only ones that I have, but that doesn't mean I can't add more!  If you have a page you would like me to add, e-mail me and I'll be happy to stick you on here!

Clogging

I think I actually learned how to clog before I learned how to walk! Okay, not really, but it seems that way to me! I started when I was three years old, which means I've done it for a little over 16 years now. For those of you who don't know what clogging is, the best way I can put it is - It is a melting pot of dance styles, loosely interpreted into a style that is similar to tap, only more upbeat and you use more of the flat of your foot than the balls of your feet. If you STILL don't know what it is, then go here. Kelli explains it a little better than I just did!

I clog with my team called the Yellow Rose Cloggers here in Humble. We have about 30 members, and our main purpose is to just have fun by doing something that we love. That's what a hobby is anyway, right? My team is like my family, and there is not one member that I would not do anything for.

Every year I try to get more and more involved in the clogging world. Summer 1999, I was asked to go along with 9 other cloggers from the Arizona Pride team to represent the USA at a world folk dance festival in Poland! That alone was easily the greatest honor I have ever received, not only because I got the opportunity to go to Poland, but because I was able to clog along side of, who I think, are some of the best cloggers in the nation! Here are some pictures from the Poland trip!

Well, that is pretty much it for now. I understand that my web page is probably a little too "wordy" but keep in mind that I am in the process of updating it. However, I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions you might have to make it better, so if you have any, please e-mail me! Also, if you have time, Sign My Slambook. Thanks! :-)
